New member of staff

Acorn Training is pleased to announce that Marc Marquis has joined Acorn as the Sales Team Leader. Marc will be involved in the Access to Apprenticeship (A2A) team. The A2A team will be manning Acorns new call centre. The A2A team will be calling potential employers to offer Apprenticeships. At the end of the 12 week programme the A2A Apprentices will go on to an Apprenticeship with either Acorn or an external employer.

Jobs Centre Plus Jobs Fair

On Thursday October 6th Acorn Training in partnership with the Job Centre Plus held their second jobs fair. The event which was designed to allow unemployed people the opportunity to view a selection of employers and to allow them to hand their CV's directly to the employers.

The jobs fair featured a range of employers from East Midlands Airport to Avon. During the event it is estimated that 500 people attended the event.

Kimberley Millhouse said " For the jobs seeker these events are really important, they give the person looking for work inside knowledge about a vacancy it almost gives them a head start."

During the event Acorn Training also held Have a Go stands giving the visitors the chance to have a go at courses that Acorn offers

Circus Starr

Acorn Training are proud to sponsor Circus Starr when they come to Nottingham on Thursday 10th November.

Thanks to Acorns Sponsorship 8 Young disabled people will be able to visit the circus and see the stars.

Circus Starr have been raising money for charities and hospices for nearly 25 years, during this time they have raised over £750000.

Safeguarding

As part of Acorns' ongoing committement to provide safeguarding for all learners, trainees past and present were asking to design a new logo to show Acorns' dedication.

The logo had to show Acorns continued dedication towards its learners.

The winning logo was designed by Matt Brown who after producing several designs came up with the winning logo (see below)

Blooming Great Tea Party

On Thursday 21st July Acorn Training raised over £260 for Marie Curie Cancer Care

The event held in Acorns premises as well as the local council offices included a tombola, raffle and craft stall as well as Acorns Beauty rooms

During the day Tea and cakes were delivered to local companies allowing them to join in the fund raising

Acorn would like to thank everyone that donated gifts, cakes and their time to make the event a success

Acorn Training welcomes new staff

Acorn Training welcome Katie Booth and Elly Suffolk to the ESF Ignite project. Katie and Elly will be running the ignite project.

Acorn Academy welcomes John McCann who will be in charge of security and maintenance, Kay Taylor who will be in charge of Information Advice and Guidance for our Foundation Learning learners and Craig Wilson who will be taking over the Business Administration pathway. Craig will also be teaching Functional Skills and Health and Safety.

Acorn also say goodbye to Amy Diggle who has left after 2 years.
